Photo Dump – – Koufonisia, Greece. Simple and stunning

Koufonisia is a bit off the beaten path when visiting the cyclades, Greece, but a great location near both Paros and Naxos.  After spending a few days in Paros, we decided it was time to head on out. We packed our bags and caught the next available ferry. Before leaving for Greece, I had picked a few islands that seemed interesting but this one never crossed my radar. A quick google search showed aqua water and small inlet beaches. Sold.

Koufonisia is actually two islands, one inhabited and one not.  There is not much to do other than lay on the beach and roam the island; we walked around it in a few hours. The simplicity of it was what made this island my second favorite on our trip. Simple and stunning.

Warning: These pictures remind me of how important it is to clean your lens, especially in the salt air, even with a little point and shoot.

We spent a day at the cove beach on the right of the photo. They had a water taxi to take you back and forth to the Chora (main village).

Koufonisia is actually two islands, Kato, the one we stayed on and Pano the uninhabited one you can see across the way.

This pebble beach was our favorite. Close to our room, secluded below a cliff and perfect for some wine and sunsets.

This bouganvillea blows all of Okinawa’s out of the water. The dry climate makes them beastly.
